The Enugu State Police Command has announced the arrest of a suspected drug peddler following a raid on a notorious hideout in Amaowere-Nike, Enugu.
According to a statement issued on Tuesday by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Daniel Ndukwe, the operation was carried out on September 19, 2025, at about 7:00 a.m. by operatives of Unity Division in collaboration with Forest Guards. The exercise was conducted in line with the directive of the State Commissioner of Police, CP Mamman Bitrus Giwa.
The suspect, identified as 43-year-old Elias Ukachukwu Agu, was arrested during the raid on a container shop allegedly used for drug peddling. Ndukwe said the suspect confessed during interrogation to being involved in the sale of illicit drugs and substances.
“Exhibits recovered include fourteen (14) cups and twenty-five (25) sachets of a substance suspected to be Canadian Loud (commonly called Loud), six (6) sachets of a substance suspected to be Colorado (commonly called Colos)—both variants of cannabis—one (1) weed crusher, and two (2) packets of Rizla,” the statement read.
The police spokesperson further disclosed that the suspect would be arraigned in court upon the conclusion of investigations.
Commissioner of Police, CP Giwa, used the opportunity to caution members of the public, especially young people, against engaging in the sale, purchase, or use of illicit drugs.
He also reassured residents of the Command’s “unwavering commitment to ridding Enugu State of crime and criminality” while calling for their continued cooperation and support.
