A wave of excitement swept through Obollo Afor earlier today as Hon. Dr. Nnamdi Odo, Councillor representing Obollo Afor Ward, launched his ₦500,000 “Back to School Project” aimed at supporting pupils and teachers in the community.
Hon. Odo visited Central School, Obollo Afor and Primary School, Ulo N’Iheakpu Obollo, where he distributed school materials worth half a million naira, including bags, exercise books, mathematical sets, pens, and pencils. He also awarded bursaries to pupils who came first and second in their classes, while teachers received financial incentives in recognition of their dedication.
The Headmistress of Central School, visibly moved, said she had not witnessed such an intervention in her over 30 years of service. “Our joy is not in the size of what was given, but in the heart and thought that we were remembered. This is the first time an individual has brought this kind of support to us,” she said, as the teachers and pupils offered prayers for Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah and expressed gratitude for his strides in education.
Hon. Odo emphasized that the project was just the beginning:
“This is not the end but the beginning of the Back to School Project for Peter Ndubuisi Mbah. We will be visiting more schools across the Local Government Area. I also appreciate those who made time out of their busy schedules to join me today,” he said.
A community leader, Mr. Amos Odo, described the atmosphere as one of pure joy. “The beaming smiles on the children’s faces say it all – happiness radiated as they held their new school materials. This project has relieved parents of the burden of school expenses. Hon. Odo’s act shows that true leadership is about serving others and making a tangible difference,” he stated.
He added: “May God continue to bless Hon. Nnamdi Odo for his outstanding work and commitment to the well-being of his community. His efforts are truly inspiring, and his legacy will be remembered for generations.”
The ₦500,000 “Back to School Project” has been hailed as a shining example of grassroots leadership, reinforcing Hon. Odo’s commitment to education and his alignment with Governor Mbah’s vision of building a brighter future for Enugu State.
