Senator Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu (MON), representing Abia North Senatorial District, has urged Nigerians to embrace unity and patriotism as the nation marks its 65th Independence Anniversary.

In a national message issued on Wednesday through his media office, the lawmaker encouraged citizens to draw strength from the country’s diversity and renew their commitment to national progress.

Senator Kalu emphasized the far-reaching significance of Independence, stating:

“True independence is not only about political freedom; it is about building a society where opportunities are available to all, where the dreams of our youth are nurtured, and where justice and equity prevail.”

The former Abia State Governor acknowledged the decades of challenges the country has faced but stressed that Nigeria’s resilience has always kept the nation together.

He also called for continuous reflection on the courage, unity, and sacrifices of the founding fathers.

The lawmaker concluded by reminding citizens that the responsibility for nation-building is a collective one.

He urged all Nigerians to play their roles with faith, hard work, and patriotism to ensure the country becomes a land of prosperity, peace, and hope for generations to come.
