The member representing Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Obi Aguocha, has stirred controversy after a video surfaced online showing him issuing threats against anyone planning to challenge him in the 2027 general elections.

In the viral clip, which has sparked widespread outrage on social media, Hon. Aguocha was heard declaring that anyone who dares to contest against him would be struck by thunder, suffer convulsions, and die.

“Anyone daring to contest against me will be visited by thunder; the person will have convulsion and die thereof,” the lawmaker said in the video.

He went on to boast that he would remain unopposed in 2027, insisting that no one from his constituency could successfully challenge his political dominance.

The remarks, which have drawn sharp criticism from citizens and commentators, have been described by many as unbecoming of a public officeholder and contrary to democratic principles.

Observers warn that such inflammatory statements could heighten political tensions ahead of the 2027 polls, calling on relevant authorities to investigate the incident and ensure decorum among elected officials.

As of press time, Hon. Aguocha has not issued any clarification or apology regarding the viral video.
