A proud son of Aba, Onyeizu’s academic journey began at Dority International School, where his passion for science and problem-solving took root. He later studied Petroleum Engineering at Federal University of Technology, Owerri, laying the groundwork for what would become a trailblazing career in the energy sector.
Upon completing his National Youth Service in Bayelsa State, he joined the PTDF Gas Research Group in 2004. There, he pioneered breakthrough technologies to unlock Nigeria’s deepwater gas reserves. By 2006, his innovative geospatial model for oil spill monitoring earned him the title of Best Young Engineer in West Africa.
Career in Global Energy
Chinedu’s career soared when he joined Chevron Nigeria Limited, where he spent more than a decade leading high-impact projects across Nigeria, France, and the Gulf of Mexico. He managed multi-million-dollar operations and spearheaded the development of automated upstream workflows that boosted oil field efficiency and safety.
His expertise placed him at the forefront of global energy transformation — an enviable position for any engineer, but for Chinedu, it was just another platform to serve.

His research at MIT zeroed in on one of Nigeria’s most persistent problems — fuel supply chain inefficiencies. He sought practical, scalable solutions to improve energy availability for millions of Nigerians.
Chinedu co-founded Afri-PERA, a think tank focused on reimagining Africa’s economic and energy security strategies. He is also pursuing a PhD in Energy Economics and Policy at Emerald Energy Institute, demonstrating a commitment to lifelong learning and problem-solving.

Beyond energy, Chinedu is a visionary entrepreneur. As Chairman of Rhino Group, he oversees ventures in real estate, construction, and industrial development. Through Rhino Homes and Properties, he is modernizing the historic Ekeoha Shopping Centre in Aba, transforming it into a textile and leather hub that revives the city’s famed industrial spirit.
As Co-founder and CEO of Abia Industrial Innovation Park (AIIP), he is spearheading an ambitious plan to attract investors, create jobs, and position Aba as a major player in Nigeria’s industrial renaissance.
His philanthropic vehicle, the Chinedu Onyeizu Foundation (COF), is dedicated to youth empowerment, education, and community health — ensuring his impact reaches the grassroots.

Chinedu made a bold entry into politics in 2019, emerging as the youngest senatorial aspirant in Nigeria under the All Progressives Congress (APC). His courage to challenge entrenched systems resonated deeply with young people.
In 2023, under the Labour Party (Nigeria), he captured the hearts of constituents in Abia South, securing the majority of votes in an election widely seen as an upset against the establishment.
