Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, representing Abia North Senatorial District and Chairman of the Senate Committee on South-East Development Commission, has reaffirmed his commitment to pursuing people-centered projects and accountable governance as the Senate resumed plenary after a 10-week recess.
Speaking to journalists on Tuesday evening, Senator Kalu pledged to deepen accountability, discipline, and purposeful leadership while driving meaningful development in Abia North, advancing the South-East’s interests, and contributing to national progress.
“My priority remains delivering tangible results that improve the lives of my constituents and uplift the South-East region,” Kalu stated. “We must focus on unity, purposeful representation, and impactful governance that meets the people’s needs.”
Throughout the 10-week recess, Kalu engaged extensively with his constituents, reviewed ongoing projects, and developed new strategies to address critical developmental gaps. His outreach focused on infrastructure, education, healthcare, and youth empowerment—sectors he described as “the backbone of sustainable development.”
As Chairman of the Senate Committee on South-East Development Commission, Kalu has consistently championed fair resource allocation and the execution of projects tailored to the specific needs of the South-East. His proactive approach, he noted, is aimed at bridging infrastructural deficits and promoting regional equity.
“The South-East must get its fair share of national development,” Kalu emphasized. “I will continue to push for projects that have real impact on communities, not just on paper.”
Upon resumption at the Senate, Kalu immediately engaged with his colleagues to align legislative priorities with the needs of the people. He stressed that bipartisan collaboration was essential to achieve common goals that would improve the quality of life for Nigerians nationwide.
“The Senate is not about personal politics; it is about service,” he said. “We must work together to deliver results that Nigerians can feel in their daily lives.”
Kalu’s track record, which includes facilitating road construction, bridge projects, and improved access to healthcare and education, reflects his emphasis on practical solutions rather than political promises. His office has also supported various youth empowerment initiatives aimed at fostering self-reliance and entrepreneurship in Abia North.
He reiterated his commitment to accountability and transparent governance, noting that efficient use of public resources was key to restoring public trust.
“Every naira allocated must be put to work,” Kalu asserted. “Prudent financial management and visible impact must be the standard, not the exception.”
As plenary activities intensify, Kalu’s renewed pledge to champion development in the South-East and ensure effective representation is expected to shape legislative discourse in the coming months. His approach, combining strategic leadership with visible project delivery, continues to earn him broad support among his constituents and respect from his colleagues.
“This is not just about promises,” Kalu concluded. “It’s about leadership that works and results that speak for themselves.”
