The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has announced the appointment of Ben Ndi Obi, CON, as the new Secretary of the 2025 Elective National Convention Organizing Committee (NCOC), following the recent defection of Peter Mbah to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The announcement was contained in a statement issued on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, and signed by Debo Ologunagba, the National Publicity Secretary of the PDP and Secretary of the Publicity and Communication Sub-committee of the NCOC.

According to the statement, the National Working Committee (NWC), on behalf of the National Executive Committee (NEC), approved Senator Obi’s appointment as part of ongoing preparations for the party’s elective national convention scheduled for November 15–16, 2025, in Ibadan, Oyo State.

“The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), on behalf of the National Executive Committee (NEC), has approved the appointment of Sen. Ben Ndi Obi as Secretary of the National Convention Organizing Committee (NCOC) for the conduct of the 2025 PDP Elective National Convention scheduled to hold on Saturday, 15th to Sunday, 16th November, 2025 in Ibadan, the Oyo State Capital,” the statement read.

The NWC praised the NCOC, chaired by Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, for its dedication and preparations toward a successful convention despite recent political realignments.

“The NWC commends the NCOC under the Chairmanship of His Excellency, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State for its tireless efforts towards the success of the 2025 National Convention,” the statement added.

The party urged its members nationwide to remain united and focused as it moves forward.

“The NWC calls on all leaders, critical stakeholders and teeming members of the PDP to remain united, steadfast and focused on the successful conduct of the National Convention and the overall progress of our great Party,” the statement concluded.
