Nigeria’s reputation for innovation and excellence once again took center stage on the global platform as Eze Joel Chukwudi, Chief Executive Officer of OmniPower Innovation Ltd and Founder of DeDoc – A Doctor in Every Home 24/7, emerged winner of the Global Innovator Award of Excellence at the NextGen Innovation Challenge Grand Finale 2025, held at the Hilton Hotel, Paddington, London.

Eze Joel, who proudly represented Enugu State and Nigeria, was honoured among top global innovators for his groundbreaking contributions to digital health technology and entrepreneurship. His platform, DeDoc, has been widely celebrated for revolutionizing access to healthcare through real-time digital medical consultation.

The prestigious award ceremony was attended by the Nigerian Ambassador to the United Kingdom, H.E. Ambassador Abu Ogbe, who graced the NextGen Innovation Gala Awards Night in a show of solidarity and support for Nigeria’s emerging innovators. The event also highlighted the achievements of Interface Africa and other African trailblazers redefining innovation on the global stage.

Receiving the award, Eze Joel Chukwudi expressed heartfelt gratitude and dedicated the honour to the Governor of Enugu State, His Excellency Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, describing him as “a visionary leader whose transformative governance continues to ignite the spirit of innovation, excellence, and enterprise across Enugu and beyond.”

“This recognition is a victory for Enugu and for Nigeria — a clear testament that our youth can compete and win globally when empowered with vision, innovation, and purpose. I proudly dedicate this award to the good people of Enugu State and to our Governor, whose drive for technological transformation continues to inspire us,” Eze Joel said.

He also commended UKALD and the NextGen Innovation Challenge organizers for their visionary efforts in promoting young innovators and building global bridges between Africa and the rest of the world through technology and entrepreneurship.

The attendance of Ambassador Abu Ogbe underscored Nigeria’s renewed commitment to innovation diplomacy — an emerging movement aimed at projecting the nation’s creative minds as global problem-solvers in science, technology, and sustainable development.

Industry observers hailed Eze Joel’s recognition as not only a personal milestone but also a national triumph that reinforces the growing influence of Nigerian innovators on the world stage.

“This milestone is not just an individual success — it is a national victory and a call to strengthen Nigeria’s innovation ecosystem, nurture emerging talents, and accelerate the nation’s path toward sustainable digital transformation,” the statement added.

From Enugu to London, the triumph of Eze Joel Chukwudi symbolizes the rise of a new generation of Nigerian innovators — bold, visionary, and ready to transform the world through technology, one idea at a time.
