In a groundbreaking step toward inclusive economic growth, the Enugu SME Centre and Office of Digital Economy have launched an official WhatsApp Channel to connect citizens directly to real-time updates on business, innovation, and funding opportunities in the state.

The new platform, unveiled under the visionary leadership of Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, is designed to make government programs more accessible and strengthen Enugu’s position as a digital innovation hub in Nigeria’s South East.

Head of the Enugu SME Centre, Hon. Arinze Chilo-Offiah, described the move as a bold push to bring governance closer to the people and ensure no entrepreneur, professional, or creative is left behind in the digital economy.

“Our goal is to democratize access to information. With this WhatsApp Channel, Ndi Enugu can now get direct, real-time updates on training programs, funding, and entrepreneurship opportunities — all on their phones,” Chilo-Offiah said.

He noted that the initiative aligns with Governor Mbah’s agenda for a Smart, Wealthy, and Digitally-Driven Enugu State, where innovation and technology drive inclusive growth.

For years, the Enugu SME Centre has championed youth empowerment through programs such as digital skills training, startup incubation, access-to-finance schemes, and business support grants. With the launch of the WhatsApp Channel, the agency aims to expand its reach and impact by enabling faster communication with thousands of beneficiaries.

“Thousands have benefitted from our initiatives already. This new platform ensures that even more people can access the government’s economic programs in real time,” the Centre stated.

Through the WhatsApp Channel, users will receive regular updates on:

  • Digital skills and entrepreneurship training
  • Grant and loan opportunities for SMEs
  • Innovation and business networking events
  • Partner programs and government policy updates

Chilo-Offiah emphasized that the platform reflects the Peter Mbah administration’s commitment to building a digitally literate population capable of driving sustainable economic transformation.

“This is not just about technology — it’s about empowerment. We’re giving Ndi Enugu the tools and information they need to succeed in today’s digital world,” he added.

With initiatives like this, the Enugu State Government continues to strengthen its reputation as one of Nigeria’s most progressive states for innovation, entrepreneurship, and SME development.
