Residents of parts of Enugu who had braced up for a scheduled ten-day power outage can now heave a sigh of relief, as the MainPower Electricity Distribution Limited (MEDL) has announced the cancellation of the planned maintenance exercise earlier slated to begin on Wednesday, October 22, 2025.

According to a statement issued by the company’s Head of Communications, Emeka Ezeh, the outage, which was to last from October 22 to October 31 between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. daily, was cancelled following a communication from the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN).

“The cancellation of the exercise as communicated by the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) is due to unforeseen technical constraints,” the statement read.

The feeders that were initially scheduled for the rotational outage include Kingsway Lines 1 & 2, Emene Industrial Lines 1 & 2, Thinkers Corner, Trans-Ekulu, Ugwuogo, and Ituku Ozalla.

Ezeh assured customers that a new date for the planned maintenance would be announced once it is confirmed, emphasizing MEDL’s commitment to transparency and improved service delivery.

“We sincerely regret any inconvenience caused by this change and appreciate your patience and understanding,” he said.

The announcement comes after days of public anxiety and speculation over the expected power cut, which many residents had feared would disrupt economic and domestic activities across parts of Enugu metropolis.

With this cancellation, power supply in the affected areas will continue as normal until a new maintenance schedule is released.
