The Enugu SME Center has continued its mission of building a skills-driven economy with the successful completion of Batch 4 of the Enugu SME TVET Training Program, a hands-on technical and vocational education initiative designed to empower young people with practical, employable skills.
The program, which focused on plumbing and technical maintenance, immersed participants in real-life, workshop-based learning led by professional facilitators. Trainees were engaged in precision plumbing installations, real-time fault diagnosis, and repair exercises, gaining vital experience in tasks such as fitting water closets, measuring tiled surfaces, and designing accurate pipe layouts.
Speaking on the success of the program, Mr. Arinze Chilo-Offiah, Special Adviser to the Governor on MSMEs & Digital Economy and Director-General of the Enugu SME Center, emphasized that the initiative reflects Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah’s bold vision to transform Enugu into a skills-powered economy.
“This program is not just about training — it’s about transformation,” Chilo-Offiah stated.
“We are equipping young people with the technical capacity to build, innovate, and contribute meaningfully to Enugu’s growth under His Excellency’s Tomorrow is Here agenda.”
Implemented in partnership with COPEN Group, the Industrial Training Fund (ITF), the Nigeria Employers Consultative Association (NECA), and the C-STEMP Skills Training Centre, the TVET initiative continues to bridge the gap between education and employability, providing practical exposure that aligns with modern industry needs.
The Batch 4 milestone stands as a testament to the state’s unwavering commitment to human capital development, youth empowerment, and MSME growth. Participants expressed gratitude for the opportunity to gain both technical knowledge and confidence in their craft.
With the completion of Batch 4, preparations are already underway for the next phase of the program, as the Enugu SME Center works to scale its impact across more sectors.
“Our goal is to make skills training accessible, sustainable, and life-changing for every young person in Enugu,” Chilo-Offiah added.
The Enugu SME TVET Program remains one of the state’s flagship empowerment projects—turning talent into productivity, and passion into livelihoods.
