Renowned communication strategist, Chidi Nwakanma, has described Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, the lawmaker representing Abia North Senatorial District, as an “Action Senator,” praising his decisiveness, humility, and mastery of public engagement that continue to distinguish him in Nigerian politics.
In a heartfelt reflection shared on his Facebook page on Monday, Nwakanma recounted a recent encounter with the former Abia State Governor that, in his words, reaffirmed Kalu’s reputation as a results-driven leader.
According to Nwakanma, the meeting took place on November 2, when he urgently sought an audience with the senator. To his surprise, despite Kalu’s demanding schedule and an imminent trip to Abuja, the senator immediately scheduled a brief meeting in the lobby of Eko Signature Hotel, Lagos.
“Within minutes, the arrangement was made. That’s classic Orji Uzor Kalu—decisive and efficient,” Nwakanma wrote. “When he arrived, he didn’t waste time. He reviewed the documents, posed for photos, and assured me of a prompt response. The entire interaction was short but impactful.”
Nwakanma said the experience left him deeply impressed by Kalu’s work ethic and his ability to blend speed with substance in both governance and communication.
“He represents the rare type of leader who listens, acts, and moves on. That encounter reminded me of his years as ‘Action Governor’ of Abia State—pragmatic, fast-paced, and people-focused. Today, he has seamlessly transitioned into an ‘Action Senator,’” Nwakanma added.
The communication expert also traced Senator Kalu’s journey from business mogul to political heavyweight, describing him as “a man of many arenas.” As founder and chairman of SLOK Holding, with interests in shipping, manufacturing, banking, and media, and as publisher of The Daily Sun and New Telegraph, Kalu, he noted, “has shaped conversations both in boardrooms and in the public square.”
“From business to politics, Orji Uzor Kalu embodies motion and meaning,” Nwakanma observed. “He has carried the same intensity from the Government House in Umuahia to the Red Chamber in Abuja.”
Nwakanma further commended Kalu’s dedication to youth empowerment, infrastructure development, and national unity, noting that through the Orji Uzor Kalu Foundation, he continues to support education, health, and community welfare projects across Nigeria.
In what he described as an “exchange of the Media Relations Playbook,” Nwakanma said Kalu’s openness to engage with the media and the public reflects a sophisticated understanding of leadership communication.
“Senator Kalu knows that leadership is as much about perception as performance,” he wrote. “He engages directly, speaks clearly, and acts quickly. That’s why he’s rightly called the ‘Action Senator’—a man who does not just talk but delivers.”
As Nwakanma concluded, he underscored that Kalu’s consistency in leadership—whether in governance, business, or public communication—makes him one of Nigeria’s most enduring political figures.
“In a political landscape filled with noise and inertia,” Nwakanma declared, “Senator Orji Uzor Kalu stands out as a man of action, proof that decisive leadership still has a place in Nigerian politics.”
