President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Thursday swore in two newly appointed ministers — Dr. Bernard Mohammed Doro and Dr. Kingsley Tochukwu Udeh — during a brief but formal ceremony held inside the Council Chamber of the State House, Abuja.
The swearing-in, which took place shortly before the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting presided over by the President, marked the official induction of the new ministers into the federal cabinet.
Dr. Doro, a pharmacist and lawyer from Plateau State, was appointed Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, replacing Professor Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, who resigned after emerging as the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC). Both Doro and Yilwatda hail from Plateau State.
Doro’s nomination was confirmed by the Senate in late October, after lawmakers commended his professional versatility and public service record.
Dr. Kingsley Tochukwu Udeh, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) from Enugu State, was appointed Minister of Innovation, Science, and Technology, succeeding Uche Nnaji, who resigned following allegations of certificate forgery.
Udeh’s appointment was confirmed by the Senate earlier on Thursday after a brief screening session during plenary, where lawmakers described him as “a fine legal mind with a record of integrity and reform.”
Before his appointment to the federal cabinet, Udeh served as Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice in Enugu State, where he was credited with modernizing the state’s legal and judicial processes.
The new ministers are expected to join the President’s reform team in advancing key national priorities, including economic revitalization, technological innovation, and social welfare.
Their portfolios were immediately assigned following the swearing-in, signaling the President’s resolve to maintain governance continuity and strengthen his cabinet’s efficiency.
