
Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, has described the ongoing Anambra State governorship election as peaceful, credible, and devoid of major hitches.
Odumegwu-Ojukwu made the observation after casting her vote at about 12:25 p.m. at Polling Unit 001, Ward 2, located within the premises of St. Stephen’s Anglican Church, Okpuno-Egbu, Umudim Nnewi, in Nnewi North Local Government Area.
The Minister, who also toured several polling units in Uruagu Ward 2 to observe the exercise, commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for what she described as a satisfactory and commendable performance.
“From all I have seen, the process has been orderly, peaceful, and transparent,” she said, noting that voters turned out in impressive numbers and conducted themselves responsibly throughout the voting process.
At Polling Unit 019 and other locations within Uruagu Ward 2, enthusiastic voters were seen chanting praises in honour of the Minister, expressing satisfaction with her presence and conduct.
As collation of results progresses, Odumegwu-Ojukwu urged all candidates and political parties to accept the outcome of the election in good faith, stressing that the ultimate goal is to ensure leadership that serves the best interest of Anambra State and its people.
“The will of the people must prevail. I urge all contestants to embrace peace, unity, and sportsmanship when the results are finally announced,” she added.
