Fidelity Advert

The Enugu State Police Command has revealed shocking details behind an alleged case of child defilement that turned out to be fabricated by the complainant — a woman who accused her husband of defiling their two young daughters.

According to a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Daniel Ndukwe, the Command on October 25, 2025, received a distressing complaint from 29-year-old Okonkwo Chisom, who alleged that her husband, Okonkwo Ozioma, had been sexually assaulting their five- and three-year-old daughters and threatening to kill her if she spoke out.

However, after a thorough and impartial investigation, detectives uncovered that the claims were false and malicious.

“Investigations revealed that, contrary to her claims, the periods in 2024 and 2025 when she alleged the offences occurred were the same times she had travelled alone with all the children to their hometown in Imo State,” the statement read.

In a surprising twist, the couple’s seven-year-old son gave two separate voluntary statements in which he cleared his father of wrongdoing. He further disclosed that his mother had coached him and his sisters to falsely accuse their father — a confession that was backed by video evidence.

The Police further stated that Mrs. Okonkwo later attempted to withdraw her complaint once she realized that the investigation was revealing the truth, and that the case could turn against her.

Following the findings, the Police charged Chisom Okonkwo before the Magistrate Court of Enugu State on a two-count charge of defamation and giving false information. She was granted bail, while the case was adjourned for further hearing.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Mamman Bitrus Giwa, commended officers of the State Intelligence Department (SID) for their professionalism and commitment to justice.

“The Command remains dedicated to fairness, justice, and professionalism in handling all cases,” he said. “However, anyone found to have made false or malicious allegations will be prosecuted in accordance with the law.”

The Command also cautioned members of the public against making false reports or attempting to manipulate investigations, noting that such acts waste police resources and could destroy innocent lives.

As the case continues in court, the Enugu State Police reaffirmed their resolve to uphold the principles of justice — ensuring that both victims and the falsely accused get the protection and fairness they deserve.
