Enugu State’s rapid advances in digital innovation and human capital development have earned Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah a national nomination for the prestigious “Digital Governor of the Year” award.
The nomination comes on the strength of the governor’s sweeping reforms and Enugu’s investments in technology-driven governance, digital skills expansion, and economic modernization—initiatives that officials say are transforming the state into one of Nigeria’s fastest-rising innovation hubs.
In a statement announcing the recognition, the Special Adviser to the Governor on MSMEs and Digital Economy and Director-General of the Enugu SME Center, Hon. Arinze Chilo-Offiah, praised Governor Mbah’s “visionary and people-centered approach to digital development.”
According to him, the administration’s achievements span across key sectors of the state:
- Digital upskilling of civil servants, aimed at improving productivity and service delivery
- Capacity-building programs for young people, equipping thousands with globally relevant tech skills
- Technology-driven reforms across Ministries, Departments, and Agencies, making governance more efficient and transparent
“These groundbreaking initiatives clearly demonstrate His Excellency’s commitment to building a future-ready workforce and positioning Enugu State as a leading hub for innovation and digital growth,” Chilo-Offiah said.
He added that the nomination reflects the governor’s consistent efforts to empower young people and expand opportunities through technology.
“This recognition is well deserved,” he said. “It highlights the impact of Enugu’s digital transformation under Governor Mbah and reinforces our determination to continue delivering technology-driven, people-focused reforms that benefit Ndi Enugu.”
