Fidelity Advert

The Office of the Executive Chairman of Enugu East Local Government Area has strongly denounced false allegations claiming that his residence in Umuchigbo Nike Community was robbed and set ablaze by some indigenes of the community. The clarification comes amid heightened tension following the tragic killings of two community members on 29th and 30th October, 2025.

In a statement issued by the Chairman’s office, it was emphasized: “The Executive Chairman was neither robbed nor was his house set ablaze, whether in Umuchigbo or anywhere else. He did not at any time make such complaint affecting his person, nor did he authorize the filing of any such charge, either directly or indirectly.”

The statement signed signed by the Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication, Hon. Onyedika Agbo also highlighted that the content and intent of the charges, particularly in Counts V, VII, and VIII, “are entirely inconsistent with his position, and the Chairman therefore completely dissociates himself from them.”

The clarification stressed the importance of accurate reporting and calm, noting the community’s grief. “At a time when families and the entire community are grieving the tragic and senseless killing of our two brothers, it is essential that no misinformation, misrepresentation, or false attribution worsens tension or diverts attention from the pursuit of justice,” the statement read.

The Executive Chairman reaffirmed his commitment to restoring peace and ensuring justice, outlining clear priorities:

  1. “Working with all relevant government and security agencies, as well as the people of Umuchigbo, to restore peace and stability in the community.”
  2. “Ensuring that those responsible for the murder of our brothers are diligently investigated, prosecuted, and brought to justice.”
  3. “Protecting the integrity of his office by taking all necessary legal steps against any false allegations or actions capable of violating his personal or official rights.”

Reiterating his stance on fairness and responsibility, the statement noted: “The Chairman has never initiated nor supported any action targeted at innocent individuals, nor authorised any report that suggests such intent. His focus remains justice, peace, healing, and the overall wellbeing of the people.”

The office concluded with an appeal for public discernment, urging: “The public, media, and all stakeholders are therefore urged to disregard any statements linking him to allegations he did not make.”

The statement Agbo said underlines the Chairman’s dedication to peace, justice, and the wellbeing of Umuchigbo Nike, reinforcing that misinformation will not distract from the ongoing efforts to address the community’s grief and bring the perpetrators to justice.
