More than 8,000 civil servants under the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) are set to participate in this year’s promotion examinations, which will run from Tuesday, November 25 to Saturday, November 29, 2025, at the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) Study Centre along Kubwa Road, Abuja.
The Chairman of the FCT Civil Service Commission, Emeka Ezeh, confirmed the development on Sunday, noting that the candidates cut across 165 cadres within the FCTA structure.
According to Ezeh, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory approved the commission’s request to fast-track the 2024 promotion exercise for staff of the FCTA and FCDA as part of broader efforts to enhance staff motivation and improve productivity.
He explained that the examinations will again be conducted using the Computer-Based Test (CBT) system—deepening the digital process that has now become the standard for promotion assessments in the FCT.
Ezeh said, “Recall that the FCT, under the leadership of Barr. Nyesom Wike, blazed the trail as the first Commission in Nigeria to conduct its promotion by CBT.”
He also noted that the Minister had, in August 2025, approved the promotion of 49 directors who successfully passed the CBT examination conducted by the Commission.
The five-day examination exercise is expected to be one of the largest digital promotion assessments conducted by any civil service in Nigeria.
