…Award celebrates service, community development and Gov. Mbah’s inclusive governance model

The Senior Special Assistant to the Enugu State Governor on Media, Uche Anichukwu, has received an Award of Honour from the Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA) in recognition of what the church described as his “outstanding service” to his hometown, Nomeh Unataeze, in Nkanu East Local Government Area.

Anichukwu was honoured during a special Award Service on Sunday, where ECWA also celebrated several other community builders, including Elder Joseph Orji (Joebest), Elder Sunday Orji, Elder Nkemdirim Orji, and Pastor Chinedu Onovo, for their contributions to development and support for the gospel.

Presiding over the event, ECWA Bishop and Chairman of the Enugu District Church Council, Rev. Chinedu Okechukwu, said the awards carried both physical and spiritual significance.

“It is set aside to recognise and celebrate some of our outstanding members, who have faithfully supported the church all these years. It is also a time to recognise those who have contributed greatly to the development of Nomeh community,” he said.

He added: “Physically, the award is to appreciate those who have been making outstanding contributions to the community and to the church of Jesus Christ. Spiritually, the award is to remind everyone that a day of reward is coming, as we noted today in our bible reading.”

For Anichukwu, the bishop said:
“The award is presented in recognition of your exceptional support to Nomeh community, positive impact on lives, and outstanding service to Enugu State Government. Your commitment exemplifies true leadership, integrity, and vision.”

Resident priest of ECWA Church, Nomeh, Pastor Friday Onole, also praised the honourees for prioritising their community and urged others to emulate their example. He commended Anichukwu and the other recipients “for always putting their people and the gospel first.”

Responding after receiving the award, Anichukwu thanked the ECWA Church for the honour and paid heartfelt tributes to his late parents, Governor Peter Mbah, and former Deputy Senate President Senator Ike Ekweremadu, whom he described as instruments of grace whose contributions laid the foundation for his own service.

“I commend ECWA Church for encouraging us to do more for our communities. I dedicate this award to my late father, Rabbi Gabriel Anichukwu, and my mother, the late Senior Mother-in-Israel, Josephine Anichukwu… They helped to mentor me in service to the community,” he said.

Going further, he dedicated the honour to Governor Peter Mbah:

“He is doing the Nomeh-Mburubu-Nara Road, the Nomeh-Oduma Road. He is building a Smart Green School, a Type 2 Primary Healthcare Centre… He has turned not just Nomeh but the entire Enugu State into a huge construction site in line with his inclusive development model.”

He also praised Senator Ekweremadu for initiating the Nenwe–Nomeh–Mburubu–Nara Road project.
“Before his intervention, a journey to Nomeh was a thorough agony. Today, it is history,” he noted.

Anichukwu said these efforts provided the broader context for his “modest” personal contributions.

He concluded with a call for unity and continued support for the governor.

“Again, I can only urge Ndi Enugu to continue to fervently pray for our dear governor and support him as he continues to translate his humongous vision for Enugu State into reality.”
