Family Joy International has intensified its fight against the growing wave of cybercrime among young Nigerians, taking its latest awareness campaign to the Dutse Community in Abuja on November 23, 2025.

Led by its Chair Lady, Mrs. Uzoamaka, the organisation delivered a powerful message on the dangers of online criminality, drawing a large turnout of enthusiastic youths.

During the outreach, participants were sensitised on the risks of identity theft, romance scams, cyberbullying, online molestation, and other illicit digital activities. The group highlighted the real-life consequences of cybercrime, including legal punishment, psychological and emotional harm to victims, long-term damage to reputation, and in extreme cases, loss of life.

The youths actively engaged in the sessions, with many pledging to serve as Community Cyber Security Ambassadors—a volunteer network that will continue to spread awareness and discourage cybercrime within Dutse and beyond.

According to the organisers, the outreach achieved several key outcomes: heightened community awareness, empowered young people better equipped to resist peer pressure and digital exploitation, and the establishment of a committed volunteer structure to sustain the campaign locally.

However, Mrs. Uzoamaka stressed that the fight against cybercrime cannot be waged by one organisation alone.

She said the “victory against cybercrimes and cyber criminals is not one that can be won in isolation.” She called for deep collaboration among government agencies, schools, religious bodies, tech companies, and civil society organisations to broaden sensitisation efforts nationwide.

She outlined urgent actions required to protect Nigerian youths, including expanding digital literacy programmes, creating safe online spaces, supporting mentorship initiatives that channel tech skills into productive ventures, and strengthening policies and enforcement while still promoting rehabilitation for offenders.

Reaffirming her organisation’s mission, Mrs. Uzoamaka declared:
“Our youths are the future. By equipping them with knowledge and values, we can transform communities into strongholds against cybercrime. Together with stakeholders, we can achieve deeper engagement and greater impact.”

Family Joy International also extended appreciation to the Nigerian Police Force (NPF) – National Cyber Center for its collaboration in making the outreach a success.

The organisation reiterated its call for all partners and stakeholders to join the movement to ensure that Nigerian youths are not only protected from digital threats but also empowered to excel in the digital era.

Family Joy International is a community-driven organisation focused on cyber safety, family values, youth empowerment, and social development. Through advocacy, education, and outreach, it aims to build resilient communities and nurture responsible citizens.
