…“A Trailblazer with Exemplary Service Record,” Says Correctional Service
The Controller-General of the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS), Sylvester Nwakuche, MFR, mni, has approved the appointment of Chief Superintendent of Corrections (CSC) Jane N. Osuji as the new Service Public Relations Officer, with immediate effect. The announcement marks a historic moment as she becomes the first female spokesperson of the NCoS.
The appointment was conveyed in an official statement signed by Deputy Controller-General of Corrections (HR), Ado Sale, PhD, mni, on behalf of the Controller-General.
“This appointment follows the retirement of the immediate past Public Relations Officer, Deputy Controller of Corrections Umar Abubakar, FCAI, ANIPR, on 19 November 2025,” Sale stated.
He described CSC Osuji as a seasoned communication professional whose blend of field experience and administrative excellence has prepared her for this national role.
“CSC Jane Osuji hails from Owerri North Local Government Area of Imo State. She holds a B.Sc. in Public Relations and Advertising from Lagos State University and a Master’s in Public Administration from Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso,” he said.
Sale noted that Osuji’s career trajectory reflects dedication and consistent professional growth since joining the Nigerian Prisons Service in 2009 as an Assistant Superintendent of Prisons II, before the agency was renamed the Nigerian Correctional Service.
“The new spokesperson has attended all requisite courses for her rank, including specialised training such as the Internal Security/Low Intensity Conflict Operations Course at the Armed Forces Command and Staff College, Jaji,” he added.
CSC Osuji’s service record includes pivotal communication roles across multiple formations:
“She has served as Assistant Public Relations Officer in the Lagos State Command, FCT Command Public Relations Officer, and later as Assistant National Public Relations Officer at the Service Headquarters, serving under four Controllers-General,” the statement read.
Her expertise also extended beyond the NCoS, where she worked closely with the Federal Ministry of Interior.
“CSC Osuji worked extensively as Press Secretary to three Honourable Ministers of Interior from 2015 to 2023,” Sale said.
Until her elevation, she was a staff of the Public Relations Unit at the NCoS Headquarters in Abuja.
The Controller-General, through the statement, expressed confidence in Osuji’s ability to strengthen the Service’s public engagement architecture.
“Her appointment is a testament to her professionalism, competence, and long-standing commitment to the ideals of the Nigerian Correctional Service,” Sale noted.
CSC Osuji is happily married with children.
The NCoS congratulated her and wished her success as she assumes her new national responsibility.
