The pan-Igbo socio-cultural organisation, Akuluno United Brothers Association (AUBA), has formally installed Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, MON, as its Grand Patron during its Annual General Meeting held in Enugu on Sunday.

The appointment was confirmed in a brief statement issued by the senator on his official handle.

AUBA said the honour reflects Senator Kalu’s “long-standing commitment to the economic and social advancement of the South East,” adding that his values align with the association’s mission of driving sustainable growth, creating wealth, and expanding job opportunities across Ala-Igbo.

In a major gesture of support, the lawmaker announced a ₦100 million donation to fund AUBA’s development initiatives across the region.

Represented at the event by his brother, Chief Mascot Uzor Kalu, who also donated ₦10 million, Senator Kalu said the contribution was a demonstration of his “wholehearted support” for AUBA’s goals and a call for collective effort in addressing economic challenges in the South East.

He further congratulated AUBA’s National President, High Chief Mike Ejiofor, and the association’s members for their “unwavering dedication to uplifting their communities.”

According to 9japarrot, AUBA is an elite socio-economic club made up of leading industrialists, business magnates, and accomplished professionals from the South East. Its core mandate focuses on expanding economic opportunities through sustainable business ventures, job creation, and strategic investments that strengthen the region’s economic base.

The installation of Senator Kalu as Grand Patron is expected to enhance the group’s visibility and energize its resource mobilisation efforts as it works to position the South East as one of Africa’s most progressive regions.
