The Enugu State Government has launched a specialised satellite broadband training programme aimed at equipping young people with the technical skills needed to compete in Nigeria’s fast-expanding digital infrastructure sector.

The initiative — the Enugu VSAT Training Programme — was implemented in partnership with NIGCOMSAT and the Enugu SME Centre (Enugu MSME & Startup Agency), under the leadership of Governor Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah.

According to the Special Adviser on MSMEs & Digital Economy and Director-General of the Enugu SME Centre, Arinze Chilo-Offiah, the programme represents “what it looks like when youth empowerment meets cutting-edge digital infrastructure.”

Chilo-Offiah said more than 120 young Ndi Enugu were selected for the intensive bootcamp, which provided hands-on instruction in satellite installation and broadband deployment.

“Participants were immersed in VSAT installation, alignment, diagnostics, real-world broadband deployment, and field troubleshooting,” he stated.

He added that every trainee graduated with a NIGCOMSAT-endorsed national certificate, professional toolkits, and the technical competence required to secure jobs, contracts, and entrepreneurial opportunities in the telecoms and digital connectivity space.

Chilo-Offiah noted that the training moved seamlessly from classroom instruction to field-based installations, ensuring participants gained practical, industry-ready experience.

“This programme is powering real pathways into tech infrastructure, telecoms, and rural connectivity. This is how Enugu is building Africa’s most future-ready workforce,” he said.
