The President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, Senator Azuta Mbata, on Sunday, December 7, 2025, graced the Otu Oka Iwu End-of-Year Dinner and Recognition Awards in Lagos, using the occasion to issue a powerful call for unity and collective advancement among Igbo professionals.

Speaking as Special Guest of Honour at the event held at the PAS World Center, Lekki, Senator Mbata applauded the organisers for their sustained efforts in promoting cohesion within the Igbo legal community and contributing to national development.

He said, “Otu Oka Iwu has continued to demonstrate excellence and unity. I encourage every Igbo son and daughter to take pride in our identity and work together in the shared mission of developing Ala Igbo. Our strength lies in our solidarity, both at home and in the diaspora.”

In his welcome address, the President of Otu Oka Iwu, Mazi Okechukwu Unegbu, expressed deep gratitude for the honour of hosting the Igbo leader. He reminded members that their duties go beyond legal advocacy.

According to him, “As custodians of justice, we also carry the responsibility of representing the Igbo nation with dignity. Our professional excellence must reflect our cultural pride.”

The event attracted an impressive gathering of distinguished Igbo figures. The Governor of Abia State, Dr. Alex Otti, was represented by Deputy Governor Engr. Ikechukwu Emetu. The Asagba of Asaba, HRM Prof. Epiphany Azinge, SAN, OON, served as Royal Father of the Day, while tech entrepreneur Mr. Leo Stan Ekeh delivered the keynote address. Also present were Chief Emeka Ngige, SAN, who served as Chief Host; Mr. Ikechukwu U. Wanna, SAN; and Afam Osigwe, President of the Nigerian Bar Association, alongside a long list of eminent Igbo professionals.

The evening was marked by tributes to excellence, recognition of service, and renewed commitment to strengthening Igbo unity and cultural pride.
