Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Nurudeen Jackson Adeleke, has formally explained the reasons behind his decision to join the Accord Party, describing the move as a strategic step toward sustaining good governance and securing re-election in 2026.

Speaking during the official unveiling of the party in Osun on Thursday, Adeleke said his switch to Accord was neither abrupt nor accidental but followed “weeks of consultation and deliberations with stakeholders and opinion leaders across the state.”

“I joined the Accord Party more than a month ago, precisely on the 6th of November, 2025, as a platform to seek re-election in 2026,” the governor stated. “Stakeholders and residents of Osun State are aware of why we are taking this important decision. We intend to pursue a second term in office on the platform of the Accord Party to complete the ongoing delivery of good governance and democratic dividends, which have been applauded at home and abroad.”

Adeleke said Accord’s ideology of welfarism aligned perfectly with his administration’s long-standing commitment to the welfare of citizens and workers.

“We opted for the Accord Party because its mission of welfarism aligns with our passionate focus on citizens and workers’ welfare. Since I joined, I have been fascinated by the philosophy of this great party. The primary essence of a government is the welfare and well-being of the people,” he said.

Welcoming the Accord Party’s national leadership to the state, Adeleke said their presence signaled a new chapter in Osun’s political landscape.

“I welcome the leadership of the Accord from the national level into Osun State. You are now part of us, just as I am now part of you. We are united in progress and good intentions for the good people of Osun State and Nigeria at large,” he said.

The governor stressed that the immediate task before party members was to maintain unity and prepare for the coming elections with a collective sense of purpose.

“Our task is to sustain a united front as we prepare for future elections. We have a duty to ensure an inclusive leadership where the interests of all groups are cared for. Our party, Accord Party, is here to take over Osun governance and sustain the delivery of good governance in our dear state,” Adeleke said.

He reaffirmed his commitment to deepening development across the state, assuring residents that the Accord Party would serve as the next platform for consolidating progress.
