U.S. Congressman, Rep. Riley Moore, has delivered a deeply emotional and unsettling account of his visit to Benue State, describing scenes of brutality and human suffering that he says will “remain with me for the rest of my life.”

In a statement recounting his experience inside several Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camps, Moore said he met dozens of Christian survivors who had been driven from their ancestral homes by waves of violent attacks.

“What I saw in Benue will haunt me forever,” he said. “The people I met shared stories no human being should ever have to endure.”

According to the Congressman, the testimonies were beyond harrowing. One woman told him she was forced to watch as her husband and five children were killed, escaping only with her unborn child by what she described as “a miracle.”

Another woman recounted how her entire family was murdered in front of her, and how her baby was ripped from her womb during the violence — a story Moore said left him “shaken to my core.”

He also described the account of a man who witnessed his family being hacked to death, leaving him with a permanently mangled arm that now serves as a reminder of the attack.

Moore noted that over 600,000 Christians are currently living in IDP camps in Benue State alone, underscoring what he called a “deepening humanitarian catastrophe.”

“These Christians should be able to live in their ancestral homeland without fear of genocidal Fulani,” he stated, urging stronger international attention to the crisis.

Moore’s revelations add to growing global concerns about violence in Nigeria’s Middle Belt, where rural communities have endured years of attacks, displacement, and loss of livelihoods.

The Congressman called for urgent action, saying the world “cannot turn away from the suffering in Benue.”

“The stories I heard will stay with me forever,” he said. “And they should move every one of us to demand justice, protection, and lasting peace for these innocent people.”
