Fidelity Advert
Senator Orji Uzor Kalu

A Federal Character Commission (FCC) Commissioner, Mr. Peter Eze, has predicted that Senator Orji Uzor Kalu will coast to an unopposed victory in the 2027 general elections, citing what he described as the lawmaker’s “exceptional performance” and wide acceptance across Abia North Senatorial District.

Eze, who represents Enugu State on the FCC and is a long-time aide to the former Abia State governor, made the assertion during a private visit to Umuahia on Monday. He argued that Senator Kalu’s track record has effectively eliminated any serious political opposition ahead of the next election cycle.

According to him, “in democracy, performance speaks louder than promises,” stressing that effective governance naturally earns leaders renewed mandates from the people.

Eze identified education as one of the strongest pillars of Kalu’s legislative interventions, noting that more than 120 classroom blocks have either been constructed or renovated across Abia North through the senator’s efforts. He said the projects also include the provision of desks and textbooks, with particular emphasis on science and technology subjects.

He added that Senator Kalu’s foundation has awarded scholarships that have seen over 20 young people from the district currently studying Medicine abroad. Eze noted that many beneficiaries of Kalu’s earlier free education programmes—covering books, uniforms and meals—are now of voting age and remain deeply appreciative of the support they received.

On infrastructure, the FCC commissioner said Kalu’s impact cuts across all parts of the senatorial zone, including Arochukwu/Ohafia, Bende, Isuikwuato and Umunneochi. According to him, every clan in the district has benefited from at least one road project linked to the senator.

He noted that several communities received their first tarred roads either during Kalu’s tenure as governor or as a senator, alongside interventions in rural electrification and the construction of health centres. Eze further stated that all former Abia State Independent Electoral Commission (ABSIEC) wards in Abia North have benefited from constituency projects, with multiple school renovations executed in each ward.

Eze also praised Kalu’s leadership style, describing it as peaceful and inclusive. He said the senator deliberately avoids interfering in chieftaincy affairs, development unions or traditional institutions, an approach he said has earned him broad respect in a zone often affected by local political tensions.

Highlighting the economic dimension of Kalu’s record, Eze claimed the senator has attracted about $500 million in foreign direct investment into the district. He listed key projects to include an operational cashew processing factory in Igbere that provides jobs for local farmers, as well as a solar light manufacturing factory currently under construction—the first of its kind in Abia State.

According to him, a tricycle assembly plant is also in the pipeline to boost youth employment and improve transportation, while large-scale agricultural projects in cassava, cocoa and other crops are already creating economic opportunities across the zone.

Summing up his position, Eze said voters ultimately judge leaders by tangible results.

“Elections boil down to simple questions: Who has improved my life? Who has delivered results?” he said. “In Abia North, the answers point clearly to Senator Kalu—better schools, new roads, jobs, and sustained peace.”
