The push for the re-election of Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, received a significant boost on Friday with the formal inauguration of the Chinedu Onyeizu Reformative Movement, a grassroots political platform set up to mobilise support ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
The movement was officially launched at the Aba Town Hall amid a large gathering of party faithful, supporters and key stakeholders from across Abia South. The inauguration also produced a Central Executive Committee made up of prominent party stalwarts drawn from the six local government areas of the Abia South Senatorial District, underscoring what organisers described as a broad-based and inclusive structure.
Addressing the gathering, the Convener of the Movement, Engr. Chinedu Onyeizu, said the initiative was not driven by personal political ambition but by a collective resolve to sustain the ongoing transformation in Abia State under Governor Otti’s leadership.
“This movement being inaugurated today has nothing to do with my personal political aspirations,” Onyeizu stated. “It is solely about ensuring the seamless re-election of our dear Governor. We are all witnesses to the state of Abia before 2023, and what it is today. The only way to sustain the massive transformation currently taking place across the state is to re-elect Governor Alex Otti.”
He urged members of the movement to take the campaign to the grassroots, calling on them to reach every ward, community and household in Abia South with the message of continuity.
“I urge you all to go out and make yourselves disciples of the re-election of our Governor. Let us spread the message of good governance, accountability, and people-oriented leadership,” he added.
Several speakers at the event praised Governor Otti for what they described as his impactful leadership, infrastructural renewal, fiscal discipline and commitment to restoring public confidence in governance across Abia State. They also commended Onyeizu for his foresight and dedication in establishing a movement aimed at consolidating the gains of the current administration.
In their separate remarks, the speakers pledged unwavering support for the Reformative Movement, assuring that members would work tirelessly to galvanise grassroots backing and broaden the governor’s acceptance ahead of the 2027 polls.
The event also featured the distribution of food items, including about 600 bags of rice, to various wards across Abia South, a gesture organisers said demonstrated the movement’s commitment to grassroots engagement and people-centred politics.
Observers say the inauguration of the Chinedu Onyeizu Reformative Movement marks a major step in early mobilisation efforts, signalling growing momentum around Governor Alex Otti’s re-election bid and further strengthening the political base for continuity in Abia State.
