Fidelity Advert
Wike

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has declared that what he described as a leadership mistake in Rivers State will be corrected in the 2027 general elections.

Wike made the declaration during a thank-you visit to the people of Khana in Bori, Khana Local Government Area of Rivers State, where he met with party faithful, community leaders, and supporters.

The former Rivers State governor said leaders are elected to represent the collective will of the people and not to pursue personal agendas, stressing that the state would not repeat past errors in leadership choices.

“We will not make the same mistake again at the state level in 2027, but we will talk about it later when the time comes,” Wike said.
“Just follow your leaders. Anywhere you see them going, that is where we are going.”

He explained that his visit to Khana was not politically motivated but aimed at appreciating the people for their steadfast support for him and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

According to Wike, the people of Khana stood firmly with Tinubu during the 2023 elections at a time when many others were hesitant, describing their support as a courageous political decision that has since yielded tangible benefits.

“During the turbulent period, Khana stood with us and now you have benefited, from good roads to the University of Environment, among other benefits, because of the love of Mr President,” he said.
“So many appointments have come to Ogoniland and more are coming.”

The minister further stated that Rivers people would no longer vote strictly along party lines but would instead prioritise family ties and development interests in line with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

Earlier, the lawmaker representing Khana Federal Constituency, Rep. Dumnamene Dekor (APC), praised Wike and President Tinubu for what he described as transforming Ogoniland into a source of national pride.

Dekor thanked Wike for touring communities across Rivers State, assuring him of total loyalty and support from the people.

“We are proud to be associated with you, and whatever you ask us to do we shall do, and wherever you ask us to go, we shall go,” he said.

He also assured Wike that lawmakers from Rivers State had surrendered their political mandate to President Tinubu.

Speaking on behalf of women in the area, Mrs. Barile Nwakoh (APC, Khana I State Constituency) thanked the FCT minister for remembering the people of Khana and sustaining his relationship with the grassroots.

Nwakoh said Wike continues to enjoy massive support across Rivers State because of his goodwill, sincerity, and love for the people.

She added that women in Khana were fully prepared to mobilise support for President Tinubu should he seek a second term.

“We are ready to work for Tinubu. Please tell Mr President that we are here for him and ready to work for his re-election,” she said.

Similarly, Chairman of Khana Local Government Area, Dr. Thomas Bariere, expressed gratitude to Wike for his consistent support and presence in the area, noting that good governance thrives when the right people are in leadership positions.

“Since our support to President Tinubu, things have become better for the people of Khana,” Bariere said.
“You have supported everything good for the people of Khana and we are very grateful for this.”

He assured the minister of the continued loyalty and backing of the people of Khana Local Government Area.
