The Managing Director of Powell Homes and Shelters Ltd, Architect Dr. Chibuikem Onyekachi, has pledged to empower more realtors across Nigeria and West Africa in 2026, reaffirming the company’s commitment to improving livelihoods and rewarding excellence in the real estate sector.

Dr. Onyekachi made the declaration on Wednesday while speaking with journalists in Lagos, shortly after returning from a vacation in Kigali, Rwanda, alongside about 20 realtors sponsored by the company.

He explained that his vision is to build a real estate ecosystem where investors, realtors and partners receive optimal value for their investments, contributions and efforts.

According to him, Powell Homes and Shelters Ltd demonstrated this commitment in 2025 by distributing over seven cars, 20 generators, more than 100 iPhone 14 and iPhone 12 Pro Max phones, over 100 refrigerators, fans, air conditioners and other items to realtors who distinguished themselves through hard work and performance.

He added that these rewards were in addition to the substantial commissions paid to staff and realtors who successfully brought investors to purchase the company’s properties.

Dr. Onyekachi said the company is deliberately transforming the real estate business by ensuring that dedication and productivity are directly rewarded.

“What Powell Homes is doing is to transform the real estate business and ensure that hardworking realtors and staff earn according to their efforts. The harder you work, the more you earn,” he said.

He noted that the firm has built a system where investors get value for their money, while realtors who facilitate the investments are adequately compensated. He also said the company sells properties at affordable rates, supported by flexible payment plans that allow people across different income levels to own genuine properties.

Looking ahead, Dr. Onyekachi disclosed that the company plans to sponsor over 100 realtors, partners and staff on vacation in 2026, stressing that participation would be based on performance and commitment.

He explained that the initiative is designed to allow participants reflect, rest and learn from developments in other parts of the continent.

He further revealed that the Kigali trip would become a biennial programme, underscoring the company’s belief that hard work deserves recognition.

“As you can see, we are coming back from a four-day trip to Kigali where about 20 persons were sponsored. They are people who worked harder in 2025 for the company, and we decided to reward their efforts,” he said.

“Some of them were shocked because it was their first time leaving Nigeria. For others, it was their first time boarding an aircraft and travelling outside the country. This is what we intend to expand in 2026 to 100 persons or more. We are among the first real estate companies to do this in the South East and South South, if not Nigeria, and we hope to do more. Those who went to Kigali came from our branches in Enugu, Abuja, Imo, Anambra, Asaba, Umuahia, among others,” he added.

Dr. Onyekachi also disclosed plans to strengthen training, mentorship and professional support for realtors in 2026, with a focus on market knowledge, ethical standards and modern operational tools to help them perform better and grow sustainably in the industry.

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mr. Chris Alex described the Kigali trip as a powerful motivation, saying it showed that the company genuinely values hard work, commitment and growth.

He said the experience would inspire other realtors and partners to remain dedicated and productive, confident that their efforts would always be recognised and rewarded.

Other realtors who participated in the trip also expressed excitement and gratitude over the opportunity.

Meanwhile, Dr. Onyekachi revealed that Powell Homes and Shelters Ltd, which has already extended operations to Kenya, is currently finalising plans to open a branch in Kigali, as well as expand into other African countries and parts of Europe, as part of its broader international growth strategy.
