Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide has celebrated its President General, Senator Azuta Mbata, as he marks his 66th birthday, describing him as a visionary and benevolent leader whose tenure has brought renewed direction and confidence to the Igbo apex socio-cultural organisation.
In a congratulatory message issued by the National Executive Committee (NEC), Ohanaeze commended Senator Mbata’s leadership, noting that his time in office has been defined by commitment, courage and an unwavering love for the Igbo nation.
According to the statement signed by the National Publicity Secretary, Dr. Ezechi Chukwu, the organisation said Mbata’s leadership has translated into concrete and people-focused initiatives aimed at cultural preservation and economic revival.
“We celebrate a benevolent and visionary leader whose tenure has been marked by uncommon commitment, courage and an inspiring demonstration of love for the Igbo nation,” the NEC stated. “Under his leadership, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide has witnessed purposeful direction and renewed confidence.”
The NEC highlighted the establishment of the Ohanaeze Professorial Endowment Chairs across the seven Igbo-speaking states as one of the landmark initiatives under Mbata’s leadership, describing it as a strategic move to promote and preserve Igbo language and culture. It also cited the re-establishment and funding of the Alaigbo Stabilization Fund as a critical step towards driving the economic renaissance of the Igbo people.
The organisation further noted that Senator Mbata’s achievements within less than one year in office earned him wide acclaim, including a standing ovation at the Imeobi Ohanaeze Meeting held at the International Conference Centre, Enugu, on December 23, 2025.
Describing the President General’s leadership style, the Deputy President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, Prince Okey Nwadinobi, said Mbata’s actions have continued to inspire unity and progress across Alaigbo.
“Senator Azuta Mbata embodies purposeful leadership and selfless service,” Nwadinobi said. “His passion for Alaigbo is not merely spoken but clearly reflected in bold actions that inspire unity, hope and progress.”
As the President General celebrates his new age, the NEC reaffirmed its loyalty and support, pledging to stand firmly behind him as he continues to steer the affairs of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide.
“We wish him good health, wisdom and renewed strength in service to Alaigbo and humanity,” the statement added.
