Youths from Igbo-Eze North/Udenu Federal Constituency have begun a coordinated push to position themselves for employment and economic opportunities emerging from the administration of Enugu State Governor, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, following a major Youth Development Conference held at Modern Comprehensive College, Ekposhi, Igbo-Eze North Local Government Area.

The conference, which attracted a large turnout of young people, community leaders and government officials, was organised by Igbo-Eze North/Udenu Federal Constituency Youths for Development in partnership with the Member representing the constituency at the National Assembly, Rt. Hon. Dennis Nnamdi Agbo. The gathering focused on educating and mobilising youths to strategically align with the state government’s policies on job creation, skills acquisition, entrepreneurship and inclusive growth.

Opening the conference, the convener and leader of the youth movement, Comrade Pascal Nnemeka Ugwu, urged young people to move beyond passive expectations and deliberately prepare for opportunities being created by the Mbah administration.

“The opportunities are there, but youths must be proactive, innovative and informed enough to key into them,” Ugwu said, stressing that preparedness and strategic thinking are essential for success in the current development climate.

Delivering the keynote address, Rt. Hon. Dennis Agbo highlighted key sectors where the Enugu State Government has recorded significant progress and where youths can find immediate and future opportunities. He cited the transformation of the transportation sector, particularly the aviation industry with the launch of Enugu Air, noting that it would generate jobs across technical, administrative and service-related fields.

Agbo also drew attention to the state’s investment in education through the construction of 260 Smart Schools, designed to equip young people with digital and modern skills, as well as the development of Type C Hospitals across the state, which he said would expand healthcare access while creating employment for medical and allied professionals.

“Youths must align their education, skills and aspirations with these emerging sectors,” Agbo advised, adding that the government’s development agenda offers a clear pathway for sustainable youth empowerment.

The conference also featured presentations from key state officials. Commissioner for Agriculture, Hon. Patrick Uburu, described agriculture as a major pillar of the Mbah administration’s economic strategy, urging youths to take advantage of opportunities in agribusiness, modern farming and value-chain development.

Similarly, the Head of Service of Enugu State, Dr. Godwin Chinonso (MNI), engaged participants on public service reforms, capacity building and the importance of discipline, competence and innovation in governance. He outlined pathways through which young people can benefit from government employment programmes and skills development initiatives.

Participants described the conference as highly interactive and enlightening, noting that it provided practical insights into how youths can position themselves to benefit from ongoing reforms and investments in Enugu State.

The organisers said the engagement reaffirmed their commitment, alongside Rt. Hon. Dennis Agbo, to sustained youth mobilisation, education and empowerment as a foundation for long-term development in Igbo-Eze North/Udenu Federal Constituency.
