Leaders and stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Enugu State on Tuesday showcased a renewed sense of unity and purpose as the party rallied behind Governor Peter Mbah, with the immediate past state chairman, Barrister Ugochukwu Agballa, formally revalidating his membership amid a massive turnout in Udi Local Government Area.
The event, held at the Umuezeka Kindred Square, Amagu village, Udi, doubled as a rally for the APC’s ongoing electronic registration exercise and a public affirmation of cohesion within the party, which leaders said has repositioned Enugu as the leading APC state in the Southeast.
Addressing party members and supporters, the Speaker of the Enugu State House of Assembly, Hon. Uche Ugwu, described the atmosphere in Udi as a clear signal of the party’s growing strength at the grassroots.
“Udi will take first position in Enugu, and with what is going on here today, that will soon manifest,” Ugwu said.
He, however, urged sustained mobilisation, noting that while the state had recorded over 40,000 registered members so far, the figure was still far below the APC’s long-term target.
Providing an overview of the registration exercise, the Enugu State APC Caretaker Committee Chairman, Dr. Ben Nwoye, announced that the state had emerged first in the Southeast in terms of enrolment.
“Enugu State is now number one in the entire Southeast. We have gone beyond 40,000 registrations, and this is largely because of the support and unity among our stakeholders. This exercise has gone far beyond expectations,” Nwoye declared.

He said the milestone reflected the end of internal divisions within the party and commended Agballa for remaining a stabilising force in the APC’s rebuilding process.
“APC is now complete. There are no more factions. This is what happens when people unite,” Nwoye said, adding that healthy competition among local governments—particularly Udi’s strong showing—was driving momentum across the state.
The Executive Chairman of Udi Local Government Area, Hyginus Agu, also praised Agballa’s commitment and urged party members to complete their registration to fully access party and government opportunities. He called on attendees to take the mobilisation campaign back to their various village meetings.
Agu further highlighted recent improvements in security across Udi, attributing them to the responsiveness of both the federal and state governments to the needs of residents.

Similarly, the lawmaker representing Udi South in the Enugu State House of Assembly, Okey Aneke, applauded party stakeholders for their mobilisation efforts and described Agballa as a unifying figure whose influence continues to strengthen the APC in the area.
Moments after revalidating his membership, Agballa said the show of solidarity from party leaders, elected officials and grassroots supporters underscored a new chapter of cohesion within the Enugu APC.
He stressed that party loyalty and discipline were non-negotiable, particularly as the APC aligns behind the leadership of Governor Peter Mbah and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
“Anybody who is APC should be APC. You cannot be in APC and be working against the government of Governor Peter Mbah and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” Agballa said.

He noted that the party had moved beyond internal battles over structure and was now focused on strategic mobilisation and safeguarding its electoral base.
Describing the e-registration exercise as a game-changer, Agballa said accurate data would strengthen the party’s planning and electoral strategy.
“If you have 40,000 members, it means you have 40,000 votes. Knowing how many members we have will help the party plan better,” he said.
Reaffirming the party’s leadership structure, Agballa declared that Governor Mbah remained the leader of the APC in Enugu State and urged members to take the registration exercise seriously.
According to him, the process represents a critical step toward building what he described as the first truly credible and reliable party register in the state, as the APC consolidates unity and prepares for future political contests.
