The Federal Government of Nigeria has commenced a fully sponsored hospitality training programme at Dewdrop Institute, Enugu, under the Innovation Development and Effectiveness in the Acquisition of Skills (IDEAS) Project, aimed at equipping young Nigerians with practical, industry-ready skills.

The initiative, which falls under the Federal Ministry of Education’s Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) framework, is designed to provide hands-on hospitality training at no cost to participants, while positioning them for immediate employment or business ownership upon completion.

According to the organisers, the programme offers 100 per cent sponsorship covering professional training, National Skills Qualification (NSQ) certification, and structured internship placement. Participants will undergo intensive practical instruction in key hospitality roles, including bartending, barista services, and tea sommelier training.

Beyond skills acquisition, beneficiaries of the programme will earn NYESAF-accredited certifications, which are recognised nationally and internationally, thereby unlocking broader career opportunities within and outside Nigeria’s hospitality industry.

Dewdrop Institute stated that the training is structured to fast-track participants into employment or enable them to establish their own hospitality businesses, aligning with the Federal Government’s broader goal of reducing youth unemployment through skills-based empowerment.

The organisers further disclosed that the programme guarantees internship placement for successful trainees, providing real-world industry exposure critical for career advancement.

Applications are currently open, but slots are limited. Interested candidates have been advised to apply promptly to secure participation in the programme.

Dewdrop Institute operates training centres at 24 Bishop Onyeabor Street, GRA, Enugu State, as well as Bon Hotel, Maitama Annex, No. 3 Negro Crescent, Maitama, Abuja. Further information can be obtained via the institute’s official website or designated contact lines.

The hospitality training programme is expected to significantly contribute to workforce development in Nigeria’s fast-growing hospitality and tourism sector while reinforcing the impact of government-backed vocational education initiatives.
