A former governorship candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) in Imo State, Hon. Chief Uche Ben Odunzeh, has described Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso as a visionary leader whose style of leadership is anchored on building others and strengthening democratic values within the party and the nation.
Odunzeh said Kwankwaso exemplifies purposeful leadership, stressing that true leadership lies in producing more leaders. “I firmly believe that the role of leadership is to cultivate more leaders, and His Excellency Rabiu Kwankwaso epitomizes this ideal,” he stated.
Reflecting on Kwankwaso’s political journey and national influence, Odunzeh noted that the NNPP national leader’s commitment to peace, progress, and party development remains exceptional. He cited Kwankwaso’s service as a former Governor of Kano State, Senator, nationalist, and presidential candidate, describing his leadership record as inspiring. According to him, “His presence inspires me to strive to be a responsible and proactive leader.”
The former Imo NNPP governorship flagbearer further applauded Kwankwaso for fostering hope, confidence, and self-belief among his followers. He said the former Kano governor is the kind of leader who empowers others to realise their ambitions. “An essential aspect of leadership is to uplift those who are struggling and to guide those who are excelling to reach even greater heights,” Odunzeh explained, adding that this quality makes Kwankwaso a leader whose actions motivate people “to aspire for more, learn more, contribute more, and become more.”
Odunzeh expressed confidence that Kwankwaso’s thoughtful and people-centred leadership approach could drive positive transformation in Nigeria’s political system and strengthen the NNPP. “I do not doubt that the thoughtful actions of Sen. Rabiu Kwankwaso as a caring leader have the potential to bring about positive change in Nigeria’s political system and to our great party,” he said.
As Nigeria moves closer to another election cycle, Odunzeh observed that political realignments are intensifying, describing Kwankwaso as a key figure to watch due to his people-oriented policies and extensive experience in governance and national leadership.
He highlighted Kwankwaso’s political résumé, which includes service as a federal lawmaker, Governor of Kano State, Minister of Defence, and Senator, noting that his policies helped transform Kano into a major economic and political hub, earning him respect across the country.
Odunzeh recalled that in 2023, Kwankwaso led the Kwankwasiyya Movement into the NNPP, a move that culminated in a landmark governorship victory in Kano State. He noted that Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso (RMK) has enjoyed a distinguished political career, serving as Governor of Kano State from 1999 to 2003 and 2011 to 2015, Minister of Defence from 2003 to 2007, and Senator representing Kano Central from 2015 to 2019, while also contesting the presidency on multiple occasions.
He described Kwankwaso as a leader known for progressive policies and unwavering commitment to the development of Kano State and Nigeria at large. Odunzeh also charged NNPP candidates and party members to remain resolute and focused, warning them against actions that could undermine the trust reposed in them by the electorate.
Odunzeh concluded by reaffirming his continuity of support and renewed commitment to the New Nigeria People’s Party, pledging to continue working for the growth and success of the party nationwide.
