Air Peace Limited has confirmed that flight operations across its network are experiencing disruptions following a bird strike incident this morning at Port Harcourt International Airport (PHIA).
The incident occurred when the airline’s Lagos-Port Harcourt flight encountered the bird strike upon arrival at the airport, necessitating immediate safety checks on the affected aircraft.
In a statement issued today, 22 January 2026, the airline assured passengers that steps were being taken to minimise the resulting delays by deploying a replacement aircraft.
Osifo-Whiskey Efe, Spokesperson for Air Peace Limited, confirmed the operational response required due to the unforeseen event.
“This has necessitated checks on the affected aircraft and the deployment of another aircraft to convey passengers of subsequent flights on our network,” Mr Efe stated.
The spokesperson conveyed the airline’s apologies and empathy to those whose travel plans have been impacted by the incident, which is considered an unavoidable hazard in aviation.
“We deeply empathise with passengers affected by this unforeseen incident and are working diligently to minimise disruptions,” Mr Efe added, stressing the carrier’s commitment to passenger safety.
He concluded: “Air Peace remains committed to maintaining the highest safety standards.”
