President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the posting of four ambassador-designates, drawn from the 68 nominees earlier confirmed by the Senate in December 2025.

The approval covers key diplomatic missions to France, the United States, the United Kingdom and Turkey, marking the first batch of postings since the confirmation exercise.

According to a statement issued on Thursday by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu confirmed Ambassador Ayodele Oke as Nigeria’s ambassador-designate to France, while Colonel Lateef Are was posted as ambassador-designate to the United States of America.

The President also approved the posting of Ambassador Amin Dalhatu, a former Nigerian envoy to South Korea, as the new High Commissioner-designate to the United Kingdom.

Former Governor of Kebbi State, Usman Isa Dakingari Suleiman, was named as Nigeria’s ambassador-designate to Turkey, a development coming ahead of President Tinubu’s scheduled state visit to the country next week.

Onanuga disclosed that the President has directed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to formally notify the governments of the four host countries of the appointments, in line with established diplomatic procedures.

“The President has approved the posting of four ambassador-designates and instructed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to immediately notify the respective governments in accordance with diplomatic protocols,” the presidential spokesman said.

The postings signal the commencement of Nigeria’s full diplomatic engagement under the new cadre of ambassadors, following months of legislative screening and confirmation.
