Key stalwarts of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Enugu State, including the State Caretaker Committee Chairman, Dr. Ben Nwoye; Senator Kelvin Chukwu, representing Enugu East Senatorial District; and the party’s Deputy National Chairman (South), Chief Emma Enukwu, have openly canvassed support for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Peter Mbah ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The APC leaders argued that President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda—a comprehensive reform blueprint aimed at economic transformation and restoring public confidence in governance—has begun to yield measurable and positive outcomes across the country.
Speaking with journalists at the weekend at his Amurri political ward in Nkanu West Local Government Area, shortly after electronically revalidating his APC membership, Senator Chukwu—who recently defected from the Labour Party to the ruling party—said he had no regrets over his decision.
The lawmaker in the upper chamber of the National Assembly explained that his defection was driven by what he described as the people-oriented programmes and policies of President Tinubu and Governor Mbah, whom he listed among the best-performing governors in the country.
According to him, the only meaningful way for the Enugu electorate and Nigerians at large to reciprocate the administrations’ efforts is to secure their re-election. He said: “But for that to happen, our people must embrace the ongoing APC e-registration exercise so as to obtain their membership and also get their voters card ahead of the general elections.”

In his remarks, Dr. Nwoye, who also hails from Amurri Community, said the convergence of major political heavyweights in the area under one platform would make it extremely difficult for opposition parties to record electoral success in 2027.
“With the coming together of all the heavyweight politicians in the community under one political platform, it would be extremely difficult for anybody outside APC to contest and win any election in this area in 2027. It’s going to be an upheaval task for the person,” he stated.
Nwoye added that Senator Chukwu’s membership revalidation had effectively put to rest speculations in some political quarters over whether the lawmaker had indeed left the Labour Party for the APC.
He urged existing APC members to revalidate their membership in the ongoing exercise, while calling on prospective members to register and become bona fide members of the party.
The APC chairman further insisted that President Tinubu and Governor Mbah deserve second terms to enable them consolidate on what he described as the significant achievements recorded during their first tenures.
Meanwhile, during his own membership revalidation exercise at Obinagu Ward in Udi Local Government Area on Saturday, the APC Deputy National Chairman (South), Chief Enukwu, stressed the importance of party membership and voter registration ahead of the 2027 polls.
He explained that the newly introduced electronic registration and revalidation system was designed to align the ruling party with 21st-century political operations.
Enukwu said: “Obinagu, this is the time for our people to register and get their membership cards, so as to vote President Bola Tinubu and Gov. Mbah in 2027.”
The Deputy National Chairman assured President Tinubu that Enugu State would deliver at least two million votes for the APC in 2027, a sharp contrast to what he described as the abysmal 4,000 votes recorded by the party in the state during the 2023 elections.
Our Correspondent reports that the Chief of Staff to Governor Peter Mbah, Barrister Victor Udeh, was also formally admitted into the APC on Saturday at his Umuabi Community in Udi Local Government Area, amid fanfare.
