The Anambra State Police Command has arrested two female suspects in connection with the disappearance of a 16-year-old girl, Miss Oluebube Chukwuma, reported missing in Ozubulu, Ekwusigo Local Government Area of the state.

The suspects, identified as Uzoma Nwabueze and Precious Monday, were arrested on the evening of January 26, 2026, by operatives attached to the Ozubulu Police Division, following what the police described as technologically driven information.

Confirming the development in a statement issued on Tuesday, the Public Relations Officer of the Anambra State Police Command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, said preliminary investigations yielded crucial leads.

According to Ikenga, the suspects confessed during interrogation to having a role in the disappearance of the minor and disclosed that the girl is currently in Ghana.

Following the confession, the Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, fwc, mnips, PhD, ordered immediate escalation of the case.

“The Commissioner of Police has directed the immediate transfer of the suspects to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Awka, for discreet and comprehensive investigation to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the relocation of the girl and identify any other person or persons involved,” Ikenga said.

He added that the command would keep the public informed as investigations continue.

“Further updates will be provided as the investigations progress,” Ikenga stated.
