Fidelity Advert

…As Ben Nwoye Reaffirms Party’s Strength in Enugu

The former Deputy Governorship Candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Enugu State, Prince Gilbert Chikwado Chukwunta, on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, led a massive mobilisation of party members and supporters as he revalidated his membership at Obeagu Ward, Awgu Local Government Area of the state.

Prince Chukwunta, who described the ongoing APC e-registration and revalidation exercise as a critical step toward strengthening internal democracy and grassroots participation, used the occasion to call on the people of Obeagu and Awgu at large to fully embrace the exercise and formally align with what he described as “the progressive future of Enugu State.”

Addressing party faithful shortly after completing his revalidation, the former deputy governorship candidate said the APC administration in Enugu had demonstrated uncommon commitment to development, particularly at the grassroots level.

He highlighted massive investments in education, healthcare, agriculture, and infrastructure, noting that “Obeagu Ward had, for the first time in its history, benefitted from projects worth over ₦1 billion, including a smart school, smart farm, modern health centre, rural road projects, and other life-changing interventions.”

According to him, “the level of infrastructure development in the ward was unprecedented not only in Obeagu but across Enugu State’s 260 wards,” describing the current administration as “deliberate, visionary, and people-centred.”

Prince Chukwunta further declared that the APC must be supported to consolidate these gains, insisting that the party’s leadership at both the state and national levels deserved continuity beyond 2027.

“This is a governor who is not tired of working. He has taken Enugu from where he met it to a new level, and the evidence is everywhere — in education, health, agriculture, roads, and urban renewal. He deserves our collective support to return in 2027 and do even more,” he said.

He also urged party members to rally behind the President, whom he credited with reviving a once-ailing national economy and placing Nigeria back on the path of recovery and growth.

“Nigeria was in a state of economic collapse, but today the indicators are improving. The signs are there. What we need is support and stability so that this progress can be sustained beyond 2027,” he added.

Speaking on behalf of the APC Enugu State Caretaker Chairman, Barr. Ben Nwoye, a member of the State Caretaker Committee, Nwafor Chiedozie, PhD, commended the massive turnout in Obeagu Ward, describing it as a clear signal of the party’s growing acceptance and momentum across the state.

Delivering the message of the State Caretaker Chairman, Chiedozie said Barr. Nwoye was deeply encouraged by the enthusiasm shown by party members and stakeholders during the revalidation exercise, particularly the leadership role played by Prince Chukwunta.

“The State Caretaker Chairman, Barr. Ben Nwoye, has consistently maintained that the strength of the APC in Enugu lies at the grassroots. What we are witnessing in Obeagu today clearly validates that position,” Chiedozie stated.

He added that the caretaker leadership of the party was committed to building a united, disciplined, and people-oriented APC capable of winning elections and delivering good governance in Enugu State.

“Barr. Ben Nwoye believes that with leaders like Prince Chukwunta, who have paid their dues and remain committed to the party’s ideals, the APC is firmly positioned for expansion, consolidation, and eventual victory in Enugu State,” he said.

Chiedozie further noted that the revalidation exercise was not merely administrative but symbolic of the party’s resolve to reconnect with the people and strengthen its base ahead of future electoral contests.

Prince Chukwunta, on his part, expressed confidence that the number of registered and revalidated APC members in Obeagu Ward would double within 48 hours, citing the overwhelming turnout and renewed enthusiasm among genuine ward members.

“The system is online and verifiable. What you have seen today is just the beginning. Ndi Obeagu have spoken clearly,” he said.

The event attracted several top party leaders and stakeholders, including the Deputy National Chairman (South), represented by his Chief of Staff, Hon. Ndubuisi Agbo; the APC State Youth Leader, Peter Cash; Awgu Council Chairman, Hon. Uchenna Okolo; APC Awgu Chairman, Hon. Kenechukwu Okolo; Member representing Awgu South Constituency in the Enugu State House of Assembly, Hon. Tony Nwankwo; Hon. Chief Mrs. Ginika Tor, Immediate Past Federal Commissioner, FCC; Hon. Nkechi Emmanuella Aniekwe, former Zonal Woman Leader, Enugu West Zone, among others.
