The All Progressives Congress (APC) has extended its ongoing electronic membership registration exercise to February 8, 2026, while also adjusting the timelines for its ward congresses and national convention.
The decision was reached at the 183rd meeting of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) held on Friday, January 30, 2026, at the APC National Secretariat in Abuja.
In a statement issued after the meeting, the APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, said the extension followed appeals from party stakeholders seeking more time to enable widespread participation in the exercise.
“The National Working Committee has approved the extension of the electronic membership registration exercise from January 31 to February 8, 2026, following requests from party stakeholders. This extension is aimed at enabling more supporters and members to register and validate their membership,” Morka stated.
He also announced a revised schedule for the party’s internal activities, disclosing that ward congresses will now hold on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, while the National Convention has been rescheduled for March 27–28, 2026.
According to the statement, Osun State, Ekiti State, and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) have been excluded from the congresses due to forthcoming elections, while Rivers State was excluded because the tenure of the current state executive committee is still subsisting.
Morka further revealed that the National Convention Planning Committee has been formally constituted, assuring party members that comprehensive details would be made public soon.
“Further details on the adjusted congress and national convention timetable, schedule of activities, and the composition of the National Convention Planning Committee will be announced in due course,” he added.
The extension and timetable adjustments are expected to boost participation, strengthen internal democracy, and ensure a smooth build-up to the APC’s national convention as the ruling party intensifies preparations ahead of future electoral engagements.
