Fidelity Advert
The Delta State Police Command has arrested a 28-year-old man for allegedly killing his friend and former classmate following a dispute over the sharing of proceeds from an internet fraud operation valued at nearly $1,000.

The incident was disclosed in a video statement by the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Superintendent of Police Bright Edafe, who provided details of the arrest and circumstances surrounding the crime.

According to the police, the suspect, who identified himself as Oghenegare, confessed to involvement in internet fraud—popularly known as Yahoo Yahoo—and admitted that the disagreement with the deceased arose during one of their fraudulent transactions.

Mr Edafe said the victim, identified as 25-year-old Courage, was a close friend and former schoolmate of the suspect.

“The suspect murdered his friend and former classmate,” Edafe said.
“They went into the business of internet fraud, and somehow, they had a transaction conflict resulting in a fight where he used something that looks like a small shovel or a battle axe on the head of the deceased.”

Suspect Admits to Fraud, Narrates Incident

Speaking during police interrogation, the suspect openly admitted his involvement in online fraud, stating, “I am an internet fraudster, Yahoo boy,” when asked about his occupation.

He explained that the victim had introduced a fraud scheme expected to yield almost $1,000, but later refused to share access details, effectively locking him out of the deal.

According to him, the disagreement escalated into a confrontation that turned violent.

“I kept it (the shovel) at home in case a thief visits,” he said, referring to the object allegedly used during the altercation. He further told investigators that he later disposed of the weapon while attempting to evade arrest.

Mr Edafe confirmed that police operatives are still searching for the weapon allegedly used in the attack.

Cult Links Emerge

During questioning, the suspect also disclosed that both he and the deceased were members of a secret cult group identified as Black Axe, adding that the victim was known within the group by the alias “Vikings.”

When asked what he had gained from cultism, the suspect responded simply: “Nothing.”

The Delta State Police Command said investigations are ongoing, assuring that the suspect will be charged to court upon the conclusion of inquiries.
