The Enugu State Police Command has recorded significant operational successes, arresting no fewer than 52 criminal suspects and rescuing six victims in coordinated operations carried out across the state between January 24 and January 30, 2026.
According to the Command’s Weekly Crime Statistics and Operational Achievements for the fourth week of January, the arrests cut across major criminal offences, including armed robbery, kidnapping, homicide, cultism, rape, and drug-related crimes.
In the report, the police disclosed that 12 kidnapping suspects, three armed robbery suspects, and three homicide/murder suspects were apprehended during the period under review.
The Command also confirmed the arrest of four cultism suspects, two suspects linked to rape and defilement, and 28 other suspects involved in various criminal activities across different parts of the state.
“The Command remains relentless in its resolve to dismantle criminal networks operating within Enugu State and ensure the safety of residents,” the police stated.
As part of the operations, the police said one firearm and 20 rounds of ammunition of different calibres were recovered from suspects, alongside hard drugs and large quantities of weeds suspected to be Indian hemp.
The Command further revealed that six victims were successfully rescued, while three stolen vehicles were recovered during intelligence-led raids and stop-and-search operations.
“These achievements reflect the effectiveness of sustained patrols, credible intelligence gathering, and proactive policing strategies deployed across the state,” the statement added.
The police reiterated their commitment to crime prevention and public safety, urging residents to continue cooperating with law enforcement agencies by providing timely and useful information.
“The support of law-abiding citizens remains critical to our success. We assure the people of Enugu State that we will not relent in our duty to protect lives and property,” the Command said.
