Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah of Enugu State has been hailed as a steadfast champion of rural development and inclusive growth, following his nomination as The Sun Newspaper’s Man of the Year.

The commendation came from the Chief Executive Officer of First Choice Afro Villa Ltd and Mburubu Construction Company, High Chief Dr. Jerry Patrick Onuokaibe, who described the honour as a fitting recognition of Governor Mbah’s people-centred and results-driven leadership.

In a congratulatory message personally issued to journalists on Sunday, Onuokaibe said the award reflects the governor’s deliberate focus on extending governance and development to rural communities that had long been neglected.

According to him, the impact of the Mbah administration is clearly evident across Enugu State, with Mburubu community in Nkanu East Local Government Area standing out as a visible example of renewed government presence.

He noted that Mburubu is currently benefiting from major infrastructure projects, particularly the construction of the 12.96-kilometre Nomeh–Mburubu–Nara Road and the 7.20-kilometre Mburubu–Nkereffi Road.

Onuokaibe said the ongoing road projects have significantly improved access to the community, eased the transportation of agricultural produce, and reduced the hardship residents previously endured, especially during the rainy season.

He further disclosed that the community is also benefiting from Governor Mbah’s investments in education and healthcare, with the siting of an Enugu State Smart Green School and a Type 2 Primary Healthcare Hospital in Mburubu.

Both facilities, he said, are about 90 per cent completed and are expected to enhance learning conditions for children and expand access to quality healthcare services for residents once fully operational.

According to Onuokaibe, the combined impact of the infrastructure, education and health projects has strengthened economic and social activities in the area, while restoring public confidence that government can truly deliver meaningful development at the grassroots.

While expressing optimism, he urged the state government to sustain the pace of work to ensure timely completion of the projects and continued progress across rural communities in Enugu State. He also assured Governor Mbah of the unwavering support of the people of Mburubu ahead of his re-election bid.

In a detailed press release accompanying the message, Onuokaibe wrote:

“On behalf of my family, companies, and the good people of Mburubu in Nkanu East Local Government Area of Enugu State, I warmly congratulate His Excellency, Barr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, on his conferment as The Sun Newspaper’s Man of the Year.”

He added that the honour did not come as a surprise to the people of Enugu, noting that Governor Mbah has consistently demonstrated that leadership is about delivering tangible dividends of democracy through clear actions and measurable results.

“Your administration has introduced a focused style of governance that places value on planning, speed, and impact,” he said.

Highlighting the transformation in Mburubu, Onuokaibe stated:

“In Mburubu, we are experiencing government presence in a way we have not seen in many years. This is evident in the ongoing construction of the 12.96km Nomeh–Mburubu–Nara Road and the 7.20km Mburubu–Nkereffi Road, both of which pass through key parts of our community, including areas close to my residence.”

He recalled that before the intervention, poor road conditions severely affected farming, trading, schooling and access to healthcare, particularly during the rainy season.

“With these roads, farmers now move produce more easily, traders reach markets faster, and residents travel with less difficulty,” he noted, adding that the roads have also improved connectivity between Mburubu and neighbouring communities such as Nomeh, Nara and Nkereffi.

On education, Onuokaibe said:

“Mburubu is also benefiting from your administration’s investment in education. Our community is hosting an Enugu State Smart Green School, which is now about 90 per cent completed and designed to provide modern classrooms, digital learning facilities and a better learning environment for children.”

He also highlighted the healthcare intervention:

“In the area of healthcare, Mburubu is benefiting from a Type 2 Primary Healthcare Hospital, which is likewise about 90 per cent completed. When fully operational, it will provide maternal care, child health services, emergency response and general medical care.”

Onuokaibe concluded that the projects clearly demonstrate Governor Mbah’s commitment to rural development and inclusive growth, stressing that The Sun Newspaper’s recognition mirrors the real impact of his leadership at the community level.

“We pray for strength and wisdom as you continue to serve Enugu State. Be rest assured of our unalloyed support for your re-election, as I and the good people of Mburubu will always support your leadership,” he said.
