The Enugu State Government has rolled out a new youth-focused entrepreneurship initiative aimed at creating jobs, boosting enterprise development, and driving sustainable economic growth across the state.
The programme, known as the Enugu Youth Enterprise Launchpad (EYEL), was introduced by the state government through the Enugu MSME & Startup Agency (Enugu SME Center) under the leadership of Governor Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah. It is the first major entrepreneurship programme of the year and is being implemented in partnership with the International Labour Organization (ILO) and GIZ.
The launch of EYEL forms part of the Mbah administration’s deliberate strategy to deploy targeted, youth-centred interventions that move young people from ideas to income, and from skills acquisition to sustainable enterprise creation.
According to the Enugu SME Center, EYEL is a practical, hands-on entrepreneurship programme designed to equip young people across Enugu State with the right mindset, skills, and tools required to build profitable, scalable, and growth-oriented businesses that align with international best practices.
Through the programme, participants will be supported to identify viable and scalable business opportunities, develop core entrepreneurial skills and business confidence, transition into self-employment and enterprise growth, and build businesses that meet International Labour Organization (ILO) standards.
The initiative reflects the state government’s clear objective of ensuring that youth empowerment goes beyond classroom training to include concrete pathways to job creation, enterprise sustainability, and long-term economic prosperity.
Young people across Enugu State with innovative ideas and the drive to build viable businesses have been encouraged to apply for the programme.

EYEL is aligned with the administration’s broader Grow Enugu Agenda, which prioritises MSME development, youth enterprise, and job creation as critical pillars of Enugu State’s economic transformation.
