The Board Chairman of the Enugu State Road Maintenance and Development Agency (ESRMDA), Dr. Chika George Igwesi, has described the conferment of The Sun Newspaper’s Man of the Year 2025 award on Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah as a fitting recognition of visionary, transformative and people-centred leadership.
In a congratulatory message, Igwesi said the honour bestowed on the Enugu State Governor was neither accidental nor sentimental, but the outcome of a rigorous assessment of governance performance and measurable socioeconomic impact.
“I heartily congratulate our own, the visionary Governor of Enugu State, His Excellency, Barr. Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, on his well-deserved conferment as The Sun Newspaper Man of the Year 2025,” Igwesi stated.
According to him, Governor Mbah’s leadership style, anchored on self-reliance, economic expansion and institutional reform, has redefined governance in Enugu State within a remarkably short period.
“Your visionary and transformative approach to leadership and governance, which places premium emphasis on self-reliance and economic development, is both remarkable and inspiring,” he said.
Igwesi stressed that the award reflected a painstaking evaluation of development benchmarks used to measure socioeconomic growth, noting that Mbah’s administration has delivered across critical sectors of the state’s economy.
“That Your Excellency was selected by a national newspaper of repute like The Sun Publishing Limited is not by chance or random selection, but the result of careful analysis of developmental indices for measuring growth in any society,” he added.
Highlighting key achievements of the administration, the ESRMDA chairman pointed to massive investments in road construction and reconstruction, agricultural transformation through the establishment of farm estates across all 260 wards, and the rollout of functional smart schools statewide.

“Within just two years, your administration has touched virtually every aspect of Enugu State’s socioeconomic development—from road infrastructure to agricultural revolution, education reform through smart schools in every ward, as well as notable strides in industrialisation, security and good governance,” Igwesi said.
He further described Governor Mbah’s leadership as the fulfilment of long-held aspirations of the people of Enugu State.
“I dare say that Your Excellency is living a dream for Ndi Enugu, and I am deeply proud to be associated with your leadership,” he noted.
Igwesi concluded by congratulating the governor once again, praying for greater accomplishments ahead.
“Congratulations once more, Your Excellency, and more feathers to your already loaded cap,” he said.
