Ahead of its National Convention slated for next month, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has overhauled the leadership of its Central Coordination Committee, expanding its membership from 73 to 90.

Former Katsina State Governor and ex-Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Aminu Bello Masari, has been appointed Chairman of the committee.

Under the new structure, former Senate President Senator Anyim Pius Anyim will serve as Vice Chairman I, alongside the Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, while Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq takes on the role of Vice Chairman II. Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, has been named Secretary of the committee.

Meanwhile, Imo State Governor and Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum, Senator Hope Uzodimma, who was earlier pencilled down as committee chairman, will now serve as Treasurer.

Announcing the reconstitution in Abuja on Friday, APC National Secretary, Senator Ajibola Basiru, said the changes followed wide consultations with party leaders and critical national stakeholders. He added that various sub-committees under the Central Coordination Committee would be constituted and unveiled in due course.

The expanded committee features all 27 serving APC governors, as well as former national chairmen of the party, including Chief Bisi Akande, Senator Adams Oshiomhole, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, and Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.

It also includes key leaders of the National Assembly, such as Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas, Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin, and Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu, alongside former Senate Presidents, Speakers, and both serving and former principal officers of the legislature.

Senior members of the Federal Executive Council are also represented on the committee. They include Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Atiku Bagudu; Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Christopher Musa; Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris; Minister of Police Affairs, Senator Ibrahim Giadam; and Minister of Interior, Hon. Bunmi Tunji Ojo.
