Fidelity Advert

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has issued a stern warning to governors, lawmakers and other political office holders, cautioning that those who support betrayal in politics will inevitably be consumed by it.

Wike delivered the warning on Saturday, February 7, in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital, while commissioning the headquarters of the Rivers State Renewed Hope Ambassadors.

Speaking pointedly, the former Rivers State governor said political leaders who align themselves with individuals known for treachery are sowing the seeds of their own downfall.

“We know where we are heading, but let me tell you one thing. I say this today, the 7th of February, to whoever is watching this programme—whether you are a senator, a member of the House of Representatives, a minister, or a governor—and you choose to support betrayers, people who are capable of betraying you in life.”

He warned that betrayal is a harvest that inevitably returns to its planter.

“Let me say it again: whether you are a senator, a member of the House of Representatives, a minister, or a governor, if you sit down and support those who betray others, then betrayal will be your portion. And on the day you are betrayed, you will have nothing left to say.”

Wike further described betrayal as a destructive force that leads to personal and political ruin.

“That is where you will collapse. That is where it will end. And they will announce that such and such a person has died. Because that is the seed you planted. Whatever you plant, you reap. Whatever you sow, you reap.”

According to him, leaders who embrace treachery cannot escape its consequences.

“Since you are sowing betrayal, betrayers will follow you everywhere. I have told you this—do not take it for granted. Watch carefully.”

The FCT minister issued a specific warning to governors in their second term who seek to impose successors while supporting disloyal political actors.

“Every governor serving a second term, who has the ambition of installing a successor and is supporting betrayal, you will never survive it. You will never survive it. Betrayal will follow you from the very day your successor assumes office.”

Drawing from personal experience, Wike noted that the consequences may come faster for others.

“In my own case, it took many months. In your own case, it will start immediately the day the person is inaugurated.”

He concluded by asserting that his warning was not personal opinion but a message he was compelled to deliver.

“That is what the gods of the land have told me to tell all of you. And what I am telling you is the truth.”
