Anambra Police Command

The Anambra State Police Command has arrested a 39-year-old motel owner and two other suspects over alleged unlawful possession of a firearm and involvement in illicit drug activities in Uke, Idemili North Local Government Area.

The suspects were identified as Mr. Ifeanyi Ibeabuchi, 39; Abdullahi Shaibu, 26; and Obah Chima, 18.

In a statement issued on February 12, 2026, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, said operatives attached to the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) Awkuzu carried out the operation following credible intelligence.

“The Police Operatives attached to Rapid Response Squad Awkuzu, acting on credible information in the late hours of 9th February 2026, stormed a motel located in Uke where the criminals were arrested,” Ikenga stated.

According to the police spokesperson, a search conducted at the premises led to the recovery of a firearm and ammunition.

“During the search, one Jojef pump action gun with breach number 21SA-0724, loaded with three live cartridges was recovered at the scene,” he said.

Ikenga added that the principal suspect allegedly made useful confessions that aided further arrests and seizures.

“Also, Mr Ifeanyi confessed to the crime as investigations led to the arrest of the other two suspects and the recovery of substances suspected to be Cannabis Sativa, Crystal Methamphetamine, Colos, and Mkpuru-mmiri,” he disclosed.

The Command reaffirmed its resolve to sustain ongoing operations aimed at tackling criminal activities across the state.

“The Command reiterates its commitment to sustaining ongoing operations against criminal elements in the State and urges members of the public to continue providing useful information to aid policing efforts,” Ikenga said.

He noted that further details would be made public as investigations progress.
