The Enugu State Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) & Startup Agency, popularly known as the Enugu SME Center, has intensified efforts to strengthen agroecology networks across the state as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) commitment to sustainable enterprise development.
In partnership with the South Saharan Social Development Organisation (SSDO) and other key stakeholders, the agency is supporting initiatives aimed at empowering farmers, agro-entrepreneurs, youth groups and grassroots networks with the tools needed to build climate-resilient and market-driven agricultural businesses.
The initiative focuses on enhancing coordination, expanding access to information, and providing enterprise support that will enable participants to develop sustainable agricultural ventures.
According to the agency, the programme is designed to promote a model of agriculture that is not only productive but also environmentally responsible and economically viable.
“By promoting agroecology, strengthening collaboration, and improving access to information and opportunities, we are supporting a model of agriculture that is productive, environmentally responsible, and economically viable,” the agency stated.
The Enugu SME Center noted that the intervention aligns with the broader economic vision of Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah to build a diversified and inclusive economy anchored on enterprise growth and rural value chain development.
“Under the broader vision of His Excellency, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, to build a diversified and inclusive economy, the Enugu MSME & Startup Agency remains committed to driving enterprise development across agriculture, innovation, and rural value chains,” the statement added.
The agency emphasised that strengthening agroecology networks will not only improve food systems but also stimulate job creation, support climate-smart agriculture, and enhance rural enterprise competitiveness across Enugu State.
With sustained collaboration among development partners and local stakeholders, the initiative aims to deepen sustainable agricultural practices while unlocking new opportunities for small businesses and rural entrepreneurs.
Stronger networks. Sustainable practices. Thriving agro-enterprises.
